DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Dolores was located near latitude 21.4 North, longitude 115.1 West. Dolores is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue through tonight. A turn toward the northwest with an increase in forward speed is expected Saturday, followed by a turn toward the north-northwest on Sunday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 989 mb (29.21 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Dolores are affecting portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico and the west coast of the Baja California peninsula and are expected to reach the coast of southern California later today and on Saturday.
