DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fernanda was located near latitude 15.4 North, longitude 115.9 West. Fernanda is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and this general motion with some increase in forward speed is expected over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady to rapid strengthening is forecast during the next day or two, and Fernanda is expected to become a hurricane later today or tonight. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
