DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM HST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fernanda was located near latitude 16.6 North, longitude 130.8 West. Fernanda is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next few days. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued weakening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Fernanda is likely to become a post-tropical cyclone on Thursday and dissipate by the weekend. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center, mainly in the northern semicircle. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
