DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Jova was located near latitude 24.0 North, longitude 126.9 West. Jova is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). A gradual turn toward the west and west-southwest is expected over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Further weakening is forecast, and Jova is expected to become a remnant low by tonight. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Jova are affecting the western coast of Mexico and are occuring along portions of the coast of California.
