DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Blanca was located near latitude 12.8 North, longitude 105.3 West. Blanca is moving toward the northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h), and this general motion with an increase in forward speed is expected during the next 48 hours. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 100 mph (155 km/h) with higher gusts. Some restrengthening is possible during the next 24 to 36 hours. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 195 miles (315 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 975 mb (28.80 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Blanca will likely affect portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico during the next couple of days.
