SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT: There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Blanca was located near latitude 26.7 North, longitude 113.0 West. The depression is moving toward the north-northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h) and this general motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected over the next day or so. On the forecast track the center of Blanca will move near or over portions of the central Baja California peninsula today through Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast during the next day or so, and Blanca is expected to degenerate into a remnant low by early Tuesday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: Blanca is expected to produce additional rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches over parts of the central and eastern Baja California peninsula. Rainfall associated with Blanca will also begin to affect the southwestern United States this afternoon through Tuesday. SURF: Swells generated by Blanca near the coast of the Baja California peninsula are expected to begin to diminish later today or tonight.
