DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Eight-E was located near latitude 16.0 North, longitude 127.0 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h). This general motion is expected to continue with a turn toward the west by late Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is possible through Tuesday, and the depression could become a tropical storm within the next day or so.
