DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hilda was located near latitude 12.7 North, longitude 134.6 West. Hilda is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue through early Friday. A turn toward the west-northwest and a reduction in forward speed are expected by Friday night. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Hilda is expected to become a hurricane on Friday. Hilda is a small tropical cyclone.
