DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Jimena was located near latitude 12.3 North, longitude 119.9 West. Jimena is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue through early Saturday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Jimena is expected to become a hurricane early Friday morning, and become a major hurricane on Saturday.
