The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A west-northwestward heading with a gradual decrease in forward speed is expected through Saturday night. Maximum sustained winds remain near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today.
