DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lester was located near latitude 16.9 North, longitude 113.4 West. Lester is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h). A gradual turn toward the west at a slightly slower forward speed is expected over the next 48 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Lester is likely to become a hurricane on Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
