DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Lester was located near latitude 17.9 North, longitude 119.6 West. Lester is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this motion with some additional increase in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is possible during the next 24 hours, followed by slow weakening after that time. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 973 mb (28.74 inches).
