DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Orlene was located near latitude 17.4 North, longitude 119.3 West. Orlene is moving toward the northwest and has slowed to 6 mph (9 km/h). A turn toward the north-northwest followed by a northward turn, with some further deceleration, is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 90 mph (150 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or so. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km).
