Residents should remain in shelter on Grand Bahama Island as they are currently experiencing the southern eyewall of Dorian. Residents in the Abacos should also continue to stay in their shelter until conditions subside later tonight. Hazards: - Wind Gusts to 170 mph - Storm Surge 12 to 18 feet above normal tide levels with higher destructive waves These hazards will continue over Grand Bahama Island through much of this evening, causing extreme destruction on the island. A recent observation from Settlement Point, on the far western tip of Grand Bahama Island indicated a sustained wind of 54 mph (87 km/h) with a gust to 66 mph (106 km/h).
