DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 AM HST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Madeline was located near latitude 16.9 North, longitude 141.9 West. Madeline is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue through Monday with a gradual turn toward the west Monday night and Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Madeline is expected to strengthen a bit through Monday before beginning to weaken Monday night or Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches).
