DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 500 PM HST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Madeline was located near latitude 16.6 North, longitude 159.0 West. Madeline is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue over the next 48 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Madeline is forecast to become a tropical depression tonight, then a post-tropical remnant low by Saturday, if not sooner.
