DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Kenneth was located near latitude 24.6 North, longitude 135.1 West. Kenneth is moving toward the north-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h) and this general direction of motion with a gradual decrease in forward speed is expected over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Kenneth is likely to become a post-tropical cyclone by tonight. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
