DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Norma was located near latitude 21.6 North, longitude 113.9 West. The depression is moving toward the west near 6 mph (9 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue today with a gradual turn to the northwest thereafter. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Further weakening is forecast, and Norma is expected to degenerate into a remnant low on Wednesday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb (29.74 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Norma are affecting portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico and Baja California Sur and will continue today.
