DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was located near latitude 17.0 North, longitude 116.7 West. Aletta is moving toward the west-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h). A westward motion is expected to begin today, followed by turn toward the west-southwest and a reduction in forward speed on Tuesday. Aletta is forecast to become nearly stationary by mid-week. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is expected over the next several days and Aletta is forecast to become a remnant low later today or tonight. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches).
