DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Alvin was located near latitude 20.1 North, longitude 119.3 West. Alvin is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A gradual turn toward the west-northwest and west at a slower forward speed is expected over the next day or two. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued weakening is forecast, and Alvin is expected to decay to a remnant low on Saturday and then dissipate by Sunday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
