DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Barbara was located near latitude 11.2 North, longitude 115.8 West. Barbara is moving toward the west near 21 mph (33 km/h). A westward to west-northwestward motion at a slower forward speed is expected over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Barbara is expected to become a hurricane later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb (29.47 inches).
