DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM HST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Barbara was located near latitude 18.6 North, longitude 136.2 West. Barbara is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). A continued westward motion with an increase in forward speed is expected for the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Barbara will likely become a post-tropical cyclone later tonight. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb (29.47 inches).
