DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Five-E was located near latitude 15.9 North, longitude 116.3 West. The depression is moving toward the north near 9 mph (15 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue for the next day or so, with a gradual turn to the northwest by midweek. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible over the next couple of days, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today or tonight.
