DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Five-E was located near latitude 16.7 North, longitude 116.6 West. The depression is moving toward the north-northwest near 9 mph and this motion is expected to continue for a day so with a turn to the west-northwest by midweek. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible over the next day or so, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm tonight.
