DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Flossie was located near latitude 12.5 North, longitude 114.6 West. Flossie is moving toward the west near 18 mph (30 km/h) and this general motion is forecast to continue through Tuesday night with some decrease in forward speed. Afterward, Flossie is expected to turn toward the west-northwest and maintain this motion through Friday. Maximum sustained winds have inceased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Further strengthening is expected, and Flossie is expected to become a hurricane on Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
