DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Juliette was located near latitude 22.8 North, longitude 123.4 West. Juliette is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h), and this general motion should continue during the next 24 hours. A turn toward the west is forecast to occur on Saturday and a general westward motion should continue into early next week. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is expected during the next 48 hours, and Juliette is forecast to become a tropical storm later today, and degenerate into a remnant low by Sunday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km).
