At 100 PM HST (2300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Akoni was
located near latitude 12.2 North, longitude 144.8 West. Akoni is
moving toward the west near 7 mph (11 km/h) and this general motion
is expected to continue for the next couple of days. An increase in
forward speed and a turn toward the west-northwest is expected over
the weekend.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches).
