DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Mario was located near latitude 12.3 North, longitude 108.7 West. Mario is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h). This general motion is anticipated for the next couple of days, with a turn to the west-northwest forecast on Friday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast, and the depression could become a hurricane by Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
