DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 PM CDT (0300 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Beta was located near latitude 31.1 North, longitude 91.8 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the northeast near 12 mph (19 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue through the next 24 to 36 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow weakening is forecast as the surface circulation weakens into the frontal zone by 48 hours. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected through early Thursday across portions of Louisiana and central Mississippi, with isolated totals of 7 inches possible. Flash and urban flooding is likely, as well as isolated minor river flooding on smaller rivers. Rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are expected across northeastern Mississippi, portions of the Tennessee Valley, and the southern Appalachians through the end of the week.
