DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Seventeen-E was located near latitude 16.6 North, longitude 110.8 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A west-northwestward motion with a slight increase in forward speed is expected today and early Tuesday, followed by a turn toward the west Tuesday night or early Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is anticipated during the next few days. The system is forecast to become a tropical storm by Tuesday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
