DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Marie was located near latitude 13.6 North, longitude 109.5 West. Marie is moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). A westward to west-northwestward motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through Friday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and Marie could become a hurricane by Wednesday or Wednesday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
